Nimmit

The Magic of Nimmit

In ancient times, astrologers used nimmit in their readings. There are traces of nimmit in prashna shastras, such as what the native was wearing, where they were sitting, their body language, and the words they used. All of these were considered to be indicators of the outcome of the reading.

At the time of the reading, everything in the surroundings became a nimmit and provided insight into the consultation. For example, in the classics, it is mentioned that if a person comes with question of when rain occurs? but their eyes or lips are not wet, it means that the rain is not occurring soon. If someone comes with wet eyes or any watery indications, it indicates that the native is in an emotional state or facing issues related to the moon, as the moon is associated with water. However, if a person reaches the astrologer with dry and red eyes and a very dull face, it indicates a combination of moon, mars, and Saturn, indicating that the native is in serious trouble and facing debts because Saturn is karka of debts.

There are various dashas in astrology and many progression techniques, but astrologers can sometimes feel confused about which one to focus on. In such situations, nimmit is the only solution to understand and address the issues in the chart. Not long ago, I was in a reading, feeling stuck about the problem of the native, when my mother suddenly give me a small plant called clasula and asked me to put it on my table. At that moment, I realized that the universe was signaling me to pay attention to Mercury in the chart. The reading turned out to be wonderful when I focused solely on Mercury and its depositor. It was truly a wonderful experience of nimmit.

Most of the time, I have observed that the situations faced by an astrologer are similar to those of the people they are advising. Once, I came home and sat on the sofa after drinking a glass of water. My sister gave me prasadam and told me that our mother was going to a satsang. I wondered where she got the prasadam from. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was a friend calling. After a brief conversation, I asked him if his mom was going to a satsang and had kept some prasadam for him. He replied saying he didn’t know as he hadn’t reached home yet. I advised him to go home and eat the prasadam. After half an hour, he called me and asked how I knew that his mom was going to a satsang, even though he himself was unaware of it. thats the power of nimmit.

Once, I was on a call with a friend when suddenly some dirty water drops landed on my hair. We know that Saturn is associated with hair and is the ruler of the west direction in astrology. So, I randomly asked my friend if there was dirty water in her west direction and told her to change it. She was shocked and asked me how I knew about it. Since she is also interested in astrology, I explained to her how I made that prediction.

One of the wonderful aspects of Nimmit astrology is that we can time events using Nimmit (omens) without using a dasa (planetary ruling period). For example, in prashna (horary astrology), each planet has its own special time periods: Jupiter rules events on a monthly basis, the Moon rules muhurta , Mars rules a day, Venus rules a fortnight, Mercury rules a period of 2 months, the Sun rules 6 months, called ayan, and Saturn rules events that occur over years. So, when you receive omens related to Jupiter, you know that events may occur within one month, or when omens related to Saturn are present, you can infer that it may take a longer time for your desires to be fulfilled and you have to do very hard work for it. That’s why when we seek advice from an astrologer or guru, it is considered auspicious to wear pleasant attire and bring some sweets as gift.
